Writing a Journal Entry

Capture notes, thoughts, and goals throughout the season to track progress beyond the box score.

Journal entries in My Stats Diary let athletes and parents capture the "why" behind the stats—how a game felt, what was learned, and what to focus on next. Over time, these entries become a powerful record of growth and mindset.

1. Open the Journal Area

From an athlete, team, or season view (depending on how your app is structured), look for a Journal or Notes tab.

  • Click "New Entry" or "Write Entry".
  • You can create entries after games, practices, or anytime during the season.

2. What to Write About

Use journal entries to document more than just results:

  • How the athlete felt before, during, or after a game.
  • What went well—effort, attitude, teamwork, or specific plays.
  • What to work on next in training.
  • Personal goals for upcoming games or the rest of the season.

3. Build a Habit Over the Season

Even short entries can be valuable when viewed over time. Encourage a quick reflection after each game or weekly check-in—this can help with confidence, focus, and long-term development.
