Tracking Progress Like a Pro
December 10, 2025 • My Stats Diary
A simple workflow for athletes, teams, seasons, and stats.
The easiest way to get value from stats is to keep the workflow simple: structure first, then consistency.
1) Start with a clean structure
- Create your team(s)
- Add athletes (don’t overthink positions yet)
- Create a season (this is what makes comparisons meaningful)
2) Track matches the same way every time
The goal is repeatability. A consistent pattern makes the charts and trends “just work” without extra effort.
- Enter match stats as soon as possible after the game
- Keep “must-enter” stats minimal (shots, goals, assists, minutes, etc.)
- Add optional stats only if you’ll actually use them
3) Use one weekly review habit
Pick a simple cadence: once a week, open the athlete’s stats view and scan:
- Recent performance (last 3–5 matches)
- Season totals
- Any “spikes” or “dips” worth talking about
4) Celebrate something small
Progress is motivating when it’s visible. Highlight a streak, a personal-best, or a consistent contribution. It keeps athletes bought in.
